For first-time test takers, here are the basics of the exam and the level you need for each goal.
TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) is the official test of the Republic of Korea that assesses the Korean-language ability of non-native speakers. It is administered by the National Institute for International Education under the Ministry of Education, and its results are used as an official score for university admission, employment, and visa applications in Korea.
You can take the exam in Korea or abroad.
Valid for 2 years from the date results are released.
Choose between the paper-based and computer-based exam. Both are equally valid.
TOPIK has six levels, from Level 1 (beginner) to Level 6 (advanced). The level you need depends on your goal.
